Product warning for TP modules from 2007 onwards for SELV application

During our regular quality checks, we found that some TP switch modules might pose a potential risk of electric shock when used in SELV (safety extra-low voltage) areas, like saunas or swimming pools. In our opinion and after testing by our quality department, the likelihood of such a scenario occurring is extremely low, as the residual current device would also have to fail for an electric shock to actually occur in this scenario.

As a precautionary measure, we would like to provide the following information regarding the following products manufactured since 2007:

Potential, albeit very low, risk of electric shock:

The above-mentioned products do not comply with the relevant clearance and creepage distances of 5.5 mm in SELV environments (e.g. in swimming pools or saunas).

The air and creepage distances are intended as a "distance requirement" between live points in the TP modules to prevent voltage transfer that could cause an electric shock and endanger human life. The creepage distance (i.e. the relevant distance between conductive points on the TP module) can be bridged by dirt, dust, pollen or moisture, for example.

Under certain conditions, which are very unlikely to occur, e.g. if the module is contaminated with dust or moisture penetrates and voltage points in the TP module are bridged as a result, there is therefore a potential, but very low, risk of electric shock. As is well known, in the worst case, albeit very unlikely, this can have serious consequences for life and limb. This scenario of an electric shock with 230 volts requires that the residual current circuit breaker does not trip; this means that a chain of several errors or unlikely events must occur.

To the best of our knowledge, there is no risk of electric shock outside SELV environments and the TP modules can be used safely.

Our measures:

Out of a sense of responsibility for safety and quality, we are therefore offering to replace all affected devices with the above-mentioned item numbers free of charge. Please note the enclosed data code. Starting in calendar week 36/2025, all customers will receive replacement devices free of charge for affected devices manufactured in 2007 or later. The replacement devices naturally comply with all conformity and safety requirements.

Please note that only the replacement devices are suitable for use with TP modules in SELV environments.

As a quality-conscious company, the safety of our customers is always our top priority. We are therefore offering our customers a free replacement of the devices. To take advantage of this offer, please contact us at:
