METZ CONNECT: FO connectors with grade B

The requirements for cabling in terms of bandwidth and transmission speed are set ever higher. These can often only be met by fiber optic cabling.

Particular attention should be paid to the high quality of the fiber optic connectors. Mechanical values such as apex offset, radius of curvature and fiber board are important factors on the production side to ensure long-term stability.

METZ CONNECT: FO connectors with grade B

On the customer side, the optical properties such as insertion and return loss are often the decisive factors for the product selection.

METZ CONNECT now also offers fiber optic connectors for single-mode technology with optimized transmission properties. This "Grade B" quality is defined in IEC 61755-1.

SM connectors with grade B are characterized by particularly high-quality ferrules, which are also aligned in the connector housing – colloquially "tuned".

This guarantees that the light-guiding glass fiber cores of two Grade B plugs are optimally aligned with each other in a coupling and that the light is transferred with very little attenuation. For each connector combination (according to measurement method IEC 61300-3-34 "attenuation of random mated connectors"), a max. Insertion loss of 0.25 dB guaranteed.

In order to be able to take advantage of these high-quality plugs, grade B plugs must be used within one plug connection and also over the entire distance. The couplings used so far can still be used because the quality advantage is only influenced by the plug ferrule.

METZ CONNECT now offers all cable assemblies (patch cables, pigtails, VIKs etc.) with LC, SC and E2000 plugs in "Grade B" quality. The various distributors such as OpDAT fix or wall distributors with matching Grade B pigtails are also available.
