Responsibility for our customers and operational environmental protection

At METZ CONNECT, environmental aspects and compliance with high quality and safety standards have been consistently taken into account for years. In the development and design of our products, attention is paid to energy and resource efficiency in the manufacturing process and in the operation of machines and systems. We also focus on minimizing CO2, noise, dust and emissions during production. When considering the environmental impact of our products, we also take into account their reparability and recyclability. Of course, we not only ensure that all METZ CONNECT products meet our own high standards in terms of energy efficiency and resource conservation. For us, effective environmental and climate protection also means ensuring exemplary, future-oriented and responsible behavior in our own factories. . Minimizing the consumption of energy and resources in production and emissions at workplaces is a permanent focus of our work. To this end, we consistently invest in efficient technologies and systems. As every reduction in energy and resource consumption is reflected in lower CO2 emissions, METZ CONNECT also contributes to climate protection. The purchase of green primary energy is another important building block. Our production plants have quality certification in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001:2015.

Reduce carbon footprint and use energy more efficiently

At METZ CONNECT, a key focus is on energy-saving technologies and processes to reduce CO2 emissions. An energy management system was already introduced in the company in 2019 to make the company-wide energy flows transparent and identify optimization opportunities. This has enabled us to continuously reduce our CO2 emissions. The plant has been continuously expanded in recent years and more and more consumers have been included in the analysis. Injection molding machines, air compressors and the photovoltaic system have been included step by step. Of particular importance to METZ CONNECT is the knowledge gained in energy management through the use of its own products, such as power supply units, measuring transducers, data loggers and various routers and gateways. In this way, we continue to develop our products in a practical way for the benefit of our customers.

Increase resource efficiency

In order to enable our customers to work with maximum resource efficiency, METZ CONNECT now offers system solutions for energy management and building automation. With cost-effective and easy-to-install plug & play systems, we help SMEs in particular to quickly and easily meet their CO2 reduction targets and improve their resource efficiency by avoiding waste.

Minimize emissions

In addition to technical solutions and systems to improve energy and resource efficiency, METZ CONNECT also focuses on minimizing emissions. In order to consistently drive this forward, we rely on low-alcohol or alcohol-free printing processes, for example. This allows us to further reduce unpleasant emissions in the print shop, which helps to optimize working conditions on site. In order to reduce the emission of dust as much as possible, the cold runner sprues of our plastic tools, for example, are ground directly on the machine while still warm and fed back into the process cycle under metering control. METZ CONNECT also uses heat exchangers to recycle the waste heat generated during the plastic injection process.

Environmentally friendly and recyclable consumables

Another example of our active environmental policy is our constant effort to use only recyclable and environmentally safe materials wherever possible. For example, we only use thermoplastics for our products and recycle sprue waste and rejects in the injection molding process. Metal waste produced during the stamping process for our contact technology is collected separately and sent for external recycling. We have also been gradually switching to lead-free materials since 2021. Plastic packaging has been replaced by paper packaging in a cross-company project wherever possible. In order to avoid mixed packaging, the remaining plastic packaging has been converted to recycled film with a white label field and is then printed by us on a product-specific basis during the process.

Reducing the carbon footprint in production

In order to make an active contribution to environmental protection, the focus of strategic modernization measures at our production plants is on reducing CO2 emissions. Since 2024, we have changed our energy provider and now use energy generated 100% from hydropower. This has led to a significant reduction in our CO2 emissions. In addition to the photovoltaic systems that have already been installed, further projects on roofs and open spaces are being examined to expand our own electricity generation. We have also been able to actively implement a number of projects to renew our machinery and equipment through government subsidy programs and offers.

Another important pillar of our sustainability activities is saving energy. In addition to the renewal of transformer stations and ventilation technology, the renovation of the generation and distribution of electricity, compressed air and heat in our plants contributes to this. By converting the lighting at our sites to highly efficient, automatically daylight-controlled LED technology, we can not only save electricity, but also further improve working conditions.

Reduce emissions

Dust extraction and extraction systems, as well as improved sound insulation in the production and assembly halls, reduce emissions such as noise, dust and odors at the workplaces in our plants. Supply air systems provide temperature-controlled fresh air directly at the workplace.

Sustainable waste management

Responsible use of resources also includes sustainable waste management. We avoid waste as far as possible, while unavoidable waste is disposed of properly in accordance with legal requirements. Our waste balance sheet provides detailed information on the type and quantity of waste generated. Comprehensive waste management ensures proper disposal in accordance with legal requirements. When disposing of waste, a distinction is made between hazardous and non-hazardous waste and between recycling and disposal. The re-meltable metal waste produced during machining and in the stamping shop is recycled and remunerated by the waste disposal company. Contaminated waste water is recycled by a waste water disposal company specializing in waste water technology and 100% of electronic waste is recycled.

Sustainable travel management

A responsible approach to business travel is an important tool for companies to protect the environment. Limiting business trips in terms of number of participants and relevance is the biggest sustainability lever. In addition, the carbon footprint of every business trip can be significantly improved through targeted travel planning with an appropriate choice of means of transport. The installation of e-charging stations and the gradual conversion of the vehicle fleet to e-vehicles are another important contribution to sustainable travel management.

Sustainable food

It is an interface between corporate environmental protection and responsibility for our employees. More and more employees are paying attention to sustainable behavior in all areas of life. Of course, this also includes nutrition. Thanks to our cooperation with local restaurants, our employees can choose from regional, vegetarian and vegan dishes.
