Multifunction timer relay MFRk-E08
With function for blocking the control contact
With the MFRk-E08 multifunction timer relay with a function for blocking the control contact, users can open up new automation options and energy-saving potential. Applications include single- or multi-family homes as well as restaurants and hotels, for example, intelligent control of the circulation pump with a presence detector: The pump only starts up when there is actually a demand for hot water.
In addition, the MFRk-E08 can be used to implement access- or presence-controlled on/off functions with temporal blocking of the control signal input. This means, for example, that towel dryers or coffee machines can also be activated according to demand.
Functionality
The MFRk-E08 multifunction timer relay can be snapped onto a TH35 mounting rail in accordance with IEC 60715 in electrical distribution boards and easily removed again using the practical release lever. The desired switch-on, switch-off or flash/pulse functions are set on three integrated DIP slide switches.
A total of seven different modes are available. Ten time ranges with time spans from 0.05 seconds to 30 hours can be precisely set via the integrated potentiometer.
After the potential-free control contact is closed (actuation time at least 5 ms), the "Block control contact" function causes the relay to pick up without delay. After opening the contact, the set time elapses, then the relay drops back again. After the relay drops back, the control output is blocked for the duration of the time set on the potentiometer. During the "blocking time", actuating the sensor again has no effect. As soon as the blocking time has elapsed, the control contact is automatically reactivated.
Application example
The control contact can, for example, be wired to an optical motion or presence detector that is installed near a sink and supplies the switch-on pulse. When the presence of a person is detected, the circulation pump is activated and the control contact is blocked to prevent reactivation. The "control contact blocking" function prevents the pump from being continuously activated by repeated actuation of the sensor.
The solution is effective, energy-efficient and convenient because the pump starts automatically when the bathroom is entered or the sink is actually used. It does not need to be switched on manually. The hot water is immediately available to the user or guest at a sufficient temperature when it is actually needed. This is not the case with standard controls that switch on the pump depending on the water temperature. Pumps that are controlled by a timer cannot react flexibly to fluctuating water demand, i.e. they may operate even if no hot water is required at all.
